| WATER: A HUMAN RIGHT? |
| Water: A Human Right? October 18, 2009 Water is a big part of our daily lives. We drink it, use it for washing our clothes, dishes and automobiles. A recent study says that in the next 20 years, one half of the world's population will not have access to clean water. Research suggests that the average person can go 30 days without food but less than 7 without clean water. Billionaire founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberte, spent 35 million dollars to take his inspirational message of water being a "source of life" to outer space recently. On this week's show we will speak with water advocates who say access to clean water is becoming a concern around the world and we need to change our habits now. QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are you doing to conserve water and use it more wisely? Write to us with your thoughts at listenup@listenuptv.com. ResourcesLorna's Wrap We started our look into water because of a growing demand that access to water should be a protected human right. Water, and what it does for us, is so vital it is a word that God describes physically and metaphorically. Water was created as a free gift to us. It cleanses, refreshes, gives life and revives. To sustain it for all, you move into the spiritual landscape. I, for one, need the spiritual water in me to be refreshed if I'm ever going to break out of my mentality that I can use all of the water I want. For heaven's sake, quite literally, turn off the tap when you brush your teeth. It's quite possible to get so spiritually dry that we don't realize caring and giving is essential for life. Jesus offers a spiritual water that has the effect of reviving, refreshing, and giving life that is free. When you do turn off that tap, while brushing your teeth, it's a good reminder to turn on the other tap that is free. Thank you for watching and supporting our program.
