The International Campaign Against Sharia Law held its second worldwide
protest in advance of the decision. One year and one extensive report later Ontario’s Premier Dalton McGuinty told the Canadian Press, "There will be no Sharia law in Ontario. There will be no religious arbitration in Ontario. There will be one law for
all Ontarians."
There was a lot of reaction from Christian, Jewish and Muslim groups…
Canada’s changing religious landscape of course includes a diverse group
of people… some of whom we know little about. The Ontario Premier's decision raises suspicion of Islam in term of human rights , a religion already viewed with suspicion, even fear, after the events of 9/11 and the 7/7 London bombings… not to mention Al Qaeda’s recent diatribes on the Internet… stating Los Angeles and Australia are next in
line for attacks.
Many Muslims have been unfairly painted with the same brush. Most say their faith has been hijacked with every passing attack done in the name of their faith.
Today, we’ll share with you excerpts from some interviews Lorna did just before she left on this subject with Muslim lawyer Hussein Hamdani, Vicar Reverend Nicky Gumbel,
and professor and world religion expert Dr. James Beverley….we also interviewed Michael Coren- author and TV host- and Homa Arjomand, Irshad Manji, Aayaan Hirsi Ali- Three of the most religiously controversial women in the world – they’re also three of the most protected. Each travels with body guards and all have had death threats for their strong voices against the oppression they say Sharia law imposes on women.

But God and I - a relationship between me and the almighty is a deeply personal issue – no one can answer the question of what do you do with God’s invitation to be involved in your life… but you. More on this at my blog. Thanks for joining us!
